In order to foster deep understanding of China and the Chinese culture among young generations from around the world, enable the prosperous growth of China studies, promote the sustainable development of Confucius Institutes, and enhance the friendly relationship between China and the people of other countries, the Confucius Institute Headquarters has set up the “Confucius China Studies Program” (hereinafter referred as the Program).

Currently, the Program consists of six subprograms in the academic areas of Humanities and Social Sciences.

l 中外合作培养博士项目/Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship

Please Note:

1.申请与录取/ Application and admissions

As the program sponsor, the Confucius Institute Headquarters is responsible for the scholarship enrollment within its mandate. Therefore, please refer to the website athttp://ccsp.chinese.cn/for the up-to-date application guides for the Program.

The two subprograms, "Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship" and "Ph.D.in China Fellowship", are also jointly known as the “Fellowships for Ph.D. Programs” under the “Confucius China Studies Program”. The fellowships aim to support the prospective students of the Ph.D. programs or the doctoral candidates abroad to pursue a long-term (6 months and above) study in China. Therefore, the sponsorship awarding is mandated on the basis of school admissions. In other word, scholarship candidates of the “Fellowships for Ph.D. Programs” should also apply for the evaluation to the Chinese host institution before the school admissions close. For more detailed application guides related to the Program and the postgraduate prospectus from Xiamen University, please log into the website at https://admissions.xmu.edu.cn/main.psp.

2.来华管理/Management and Administration

In addition to complying with the laws and decrees of the Chinese government during their stay in China,

1) Scholarship students under the scheme of the “Fellowships for Ph.D. Programs” are supposed to abide by the regulations implemented in their Chinese host institution. The Chinese host institution also sets up a liaison office in charge of the Program to ensure that the students can fully enjoy their privileges both in study and the sponsorship. The students are advised to file a final report to the Confucius Institute Headquarters under the instruction of their Chinese host institution after their scholarship program finishes.

2) Scholarship winners of the other subprograms are supposed to make clear their plan and identified recipients in China during their application. The host institution and identified recipients will then assist the scholars to implement their plan based on the scholarship admission letter provided by the Confucius Institute Headquarters. Before leaving China, the scholars are advised to file their report as requested by the Confucius Institute Headquarters and complete the settlement of funds with the Confucius Institute Headquarters on their own.
